The school's aims

The school aims to provide learning opportunities for all children to achieve and develop their abilities as individuals in a challenging, caring and stimulating environment. We aim to develop a foundation of learning skills in a structured and progressive manner that incorporates the requirements of the National Curriculum and a programme of personal, social and health education.

Our major aims are for children to:

  • promote self discipline, self reliance and motivation, good behaviour and good manners;

  • develop an understanding, appreciation and tolerance of different religious and cultural beliefs;

  • acquire skill, confidence and fluency in communicating, using the English language in spoken and written form, and to develop skills in reading, for a variety of purposes and for pleasure;

  • develop knowledge, understanding and skill in using and applying mathematical concepts;

  • acquire a knowledge and understanding of nature and scientific processes;

  • be aware of the changing world in which we live and the influences upon the environment;

  • develop an understanding of history and the effects of cause and consequence;

  • appreciate, enjoy, communicate and express ideas and feelings through music, drama and art; and
