The school's aims The school aims to provide learning opportunities for all children to achieve and develop their abilities as individuals in a challenging, caring and stimulating environment. We aim to develop a foundation of learning skills in a structured and progressive manner that incorporates the requirements of the National Curriculum and a programme of personal, social and health education. Our major aims are for children to:
- develop a positive self image and responsible attitude towards themselves and to others;
- promote self discipline, self reliance and motivation, good behaviour and good manners;
- develop an understanding, appreciation and tolerance of different religious and cultural beliefs;
- acquire skill, confidence and fluency in communicating, using the English language in spoken and written form, and to develop skills in reading, for a variety of purposes and for pleasure;
- develop knowledge, understanding and skill in using and applying mathematical concepts;
- acquire a knowledge and understanding of nature and scientific processes;
- be aware of the changing world in which we live and the influences upon the environment;
- develop an understanding of history and the effects of cause and consequence;
- appreciate, enjoy, communicate and express ideas and feelings through music, drama and art; and
- develop physical and social skills through PE, games, movement and dance.
